I want to welcome all comers to my new blog, Guam Firehouse Cook.
Yes, I am a firefighter and yes I live on Guam and work for the Guam Fire Department. Have done so for the past 26 years. Believe me, it has been interesting.
I felt a need to start this blog because I wanted to talk about firefighters cooking. As most of you know, firefighters are shift workers, usually working a 24 hour shift in different shift configurations. The firehouse is our home away from home. Naturally, we cook our meals at the firehouse. A firefighter has got to eat !!! And in turn, after a few years, firefighters become quite proficient at the task of making meals for all his/her coworkers.
That is what this blog is all about.
But this blog is also about my travels. Living on Guam, I, from time to time, travel to different parts of Asia for a number of reasons. And, of course, I've got to eat!! So this blog is also about cooking and eating and traveling.
I must warn everyone that I am not a writer and it won't take you long to figure that out. I am just an ordinary guy who likes to write about food, eating, BBQing and traveling. As I like to say, "Sinimple".
So here goes and I hope you enjoy what you read. Oh, and by the way, I reserve the right to blame my grandchildren for any grammatical errors or typos that I may commit. You know how it goes when the grands are running around the house. And if you don't, you will. They are one of life's pleasures. And I can always fall back on my old default excuse.....old age.
